Dear President Bush,

I am a Christian believer who has lived for many years with my family in the land of our Master and Lord.

We have prayed much for you. First for you to come to power as President of that great nation of yours: a banner to the nations. Secondly, for you to bless your nation by practising a consistently pro-Israel policy, for as God Himself has promised, He will bless and prosper those who bless Israel and pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

Peace in the Middle East

Mr. President,

I was interested the other day when I heard that the de facto ruler, Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Abdullah, made a statement which was received by many in this country as if it were a statement of fact, as if it were something new, a concept for peace in the Middle East that no one had ever heard of before.

A woman I know well passed me in the street the other day. She was weeping in great gulps as she hurried home. From where she came, I could hear the sound of pots and pans being banged; it was the sound of demonstrating women calling for a change in the direction their nation is heading.

The woman was Christian, not Jewish.

Something strange happened to me on the Temple Mount a few weeks ago.

There, for the first time in all the years I have been in Israel, I was physically accosted while praying and forced to leave the area which, while under Muslim oversight, is territorially past of the sovereign State of Israel.

This state prides itself in guaranteeing adherents of all religions freedom to enter and worship at sites special to them.

I'm writing as a concerned Gentile observer of your Jewish nation's currently unfolding history.

The PLO's pledge to leave negotiations over Jerusalem out of the peace process until September 1996 has gone the way of all that organization's written and verbal undertakings - into the trash can.

Caught between apathy and an inability to organize solid resistance to further concessions, Israel is voicing opposition while watching in disbelief as the PLO opens more government institutions in the city the Jews swore

So, what has changed for you, Israel?

Dear Israel

Those of you who didn't like to believe that Gentile blood is more valuable than Jewish blood may now be having to reconsider your position.

According to the messages being conveyed to your leadership by the US State Department this past week, 'Israeli blood is incomparable to American blood, the blowing to bits of Israeli kids at a Tel Aviv disco does not warrant the same response as the crushing to death of American citizens in New York skyscrapers, America has the moral and legal right to drop bunker-busting bombs on Afghani terrorists, but

This is not God’s way, Israel!

Why, why does Israel always feel that it needs to run to the United States to get that government's approval for nearly every decision it wants to make?

Over the years I have been privileged to live in Israel, I have frequently wrestled with questions about the way this nation's leaders relate to what they call "the Christian world" (by which, and it is important that we understand this, they mean all of the Gentile nations).

Curious, too, is the ordinary Israeli citizen's perspective on a whole range of issues, from the reasons for the reconstitution of the Jewish homeland, to the significance, or otherwise, of Jerusalem and the Temple Mount.

On a number of occasions in the past I have written opinion pieces in the

Jesus was asked by His disciples whether He would restore the kingdom to Israel at that time, to which He replied:
