Christian – You, too can work in the I.D.F.!
As Israel is forced unwillingly towards a violent, history-making war with its Arab enemies, many Christians who care are wondering what they can do to stand by the Jewish state against its foes.
Some talk about praying, some talk about giving. Others talk about coming over to Israel and giving the Arab enemies what for!
Traditionally, the Israel Defense Forces very rarely accept non-Jews into their ranks. Certainly Israel has never called on other countries to field men or women in uniform during its many wars. The Israelis defend themselves.
Having said this, it is also true that many thousands of people, Jews and non-Jews, have volunteered to fill the numerous posts vacated by Israelis who have had to go to the front. These volunteers, of course, are as appreciated as they are needed.
Still, some folk just won’t take “no” for an answer, and insist on finding ways to help out the military. If this is you, you’ll be thrilled to know that you can do just that. Sar-El makes it possible. (“Sar-El” is the Hebrew acronym meaning “Service for Israel”).
Whether you are a university student, a parent or even a grandparent, a woman or a man between the ages of 18 and 65, you too can now put on an IDF uniform, enter a military base in Israel, and in very important and practical ways support Israel’s military in its war to defend the state.
All you need to apply to Sar-El is a letter of recommendation from a community leader (preferably a rabbi) in the area where you live, and a medical certificate of mental and physical health.
For full details about how you can “join the I.D.F.” and the contact information you need, go directly to the Sar-El website at www.sar-el.org/index.asp
Come stand with Israel right now!
