The history of the Jewish people dramatically demonstrates that, from the moment God told Abraham that He would bless the world through his offspring, Satan earmarked his descendants for destruction.
Indeed, hatred of Abraham’s children through Isaac and Jacob dates back to the very calling out of this special nation. Long — from the Jewish prespective, never-ending — has been the list of those who have sought to annihilate the Jewish people.
Some of the more well-known antisemites have been Pharoah (who, in Moses’s time, ordered the killing of all Jewish baby boys) Amalek, Haman, Antiochus Epiphanes, Nero, Hitler and Arafat.
Antisemitism has manifested itself through virtually every people group, every Gentile nation that has come into contact with the people of Israel or, more accurately, with every Gentile nation the Jews have found themselves amongst.
Blood libels and ritual murders, crusades, inquisition, expulsions, pogroms, ghettoes, the Holocaust – no method of ethnic cleansing has been too creative for antisemites to utilize.
Rightly has this prejudice been called “the longest hatred”. Inhuman in its practise, it has been and remains an irrational, blind, frantic hatred which has evidenced itself for so long, and in so many places, that we are really left with no choice but to draw a simple conclusion: Either the Jew is the problem, or the Gentile is.
We will use the pages in this feature to clamp antisemitism under the microscope and see what we can learn from scrutinizing this most virulent form of racism**.
* The Oxford English Dictionary defines “anti-Semitism” as hostility to, or prejudice against, the Jews. We have chosen to spell this evil practice in one word, “antisemitism”, because this phenomenal hatred and prejudice has nothing whatsoever to do with Semites, that is, there is no such thing as Semitism which anti-Semitism opposes. Antisemitism is, as it always was, simply Jew-hatred.
** In the strictest sense, antisemitism is not racism because it disappears as soon as the Jew gives up his faith and converts to another religion. Also, the hatred persists despite the color of the Jew.
