Adam to Noah

By Stan Goodenough

Just ten generations spanned the 1656 years between the day God made Adam and the day Noah entered the ark to ride out the great flood.

Because of their longevity - excluding Enoch, the pre-flood members in the Adam to Noah line lived an average of 912 years each - the careless observer might imagine that many thousands of years passed from the creation to the deluge.

Just ten generations spanned the 1656 years between the day God made Adam and the day Noah entered the ark to ride out the great flood.

Because of their longevity – excluding Enoch, the pre-flood members in the Adam to Noah line lived an average of 912 years each – the careless observer might imagine that many thousands of years passed from the creation to the deluge. The first biblical genealogy, recorded in Genesis 5, gives us a clear timeline:

GenerationNameLivedAge
1Adam0 – 930930
2Seth130 – 1042912
3Enosh235 – 1140905
4Cainan325 – 1242910
5Mahalalel395 – 1290895
6Jared460 – 1422962
7Enoch622 – 987365
8Methuselah687 – 1656969
9Lamech847 – 1651777
10Noah1056 – 2006950

The table reveals some interesting facts:

  • Adam and Eve did not live in the Garden of Eden for more than 129 years (unless their ages were only tabulated from the day they were banned from Paradise).
  • Adam lived to see the birth of all his descendants except Noah.
  • Adam thus saw the terrible fruits of his sinfulness, as mankind was just a generation away from destruction when he died.
  • All the pre-Noah generations in Adam’s bloodline died out before the Flood.
  • Methuselah witnessed his grandson building the ark.
  • Methuselah, the last survivor of the pre-Noah generations (he outlived his son, Lamech) died the very year in which God sent the Flood.
  • Noah’s father, Lamech, died just four years before the Flood. Noah, having been told by the Lord that only he, his wife, his sons and their wives, were to be going into the ark, was probably not terribly distressed at having to bid his father and grandfather farewell before the deluge struck.

Can you glean any other nuggets of information from this “boring” genealogy?

WHAT UTTER DECEPTION! THE PLO REJECTS ALL PEACE DEALS.

The PLO was instituted in 1964 three years before the six day war in June 1967 when Israel, in a war of self-defense, recovered the so-called “West Bank”, now seen and proclaimed by nearly everybody as the quintessence crux of the Middle East problem.
This however shows that the PLO (All Palestine needs to be liberated) was not formed to erect a Palestinian state on the ‘so called’ West Bank but was instituted to replace all of Israel with a Muslim Palestinian State.

A Word From Zion

The New Testament Basis for the Restoration of Israel

Jesus was asked by His disciples whether He would restore the kingdom to Israel at that time, to which He replied:
Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority.
